You come on and keep me guessing I want you to break to my heart You come out to keep me guessing I want you to break to my heart I want you to break to my heart You live yet I had no way of grieving I want you to break to my heart I had no way of grieving I want you to break to my heart I want you to break to my heart I'm so far beneath you, subterranean I want you to break to my heart All the beaten men, we’re so beneath you I want you to break to my heart And we don’t have so much to say For all the Slimfast in America Come on, keep me guessing I want you to break to my heart, I want you You come out to keep me guessing I want you to break to my heart And we don’t have so much to say For all the Slimfast in America

Gradually, I've become aware Of you always standing there Driven by ghosts of my keeping Can't close my eyes for all my sleeping Cradled in my eyes are years and years of madness Sad, but I can't clear my head You walk away with no distress Walk away with no distress I have plastered over all the cracks I know there ain't no going back A crazy turn-off, one a day It's not the way, it's not the way No, it's not the way The ghosts of my madness They follow me around I wallow in your waters I'm surely to be drowned I'm hollow in your thoughts of me Can you ever bring me round? Slowly, I'm drawn into this shell Hell, my broken voice won't kiss and tell Cradled in my eyes are years and years of heartache Stoned and wild I stand again [stand to gain] You walk away with no mistake Walk away, make no mistake I have plastered over all the cracks I know there ain't no going back A crazy turn-on, one a day It's not the way, it's not the way No, it's not the way The ghosts of my madness They follow me around I wallow in your waters I'm surely to be drowned I'm hollow in your thoughts of me Can you ever bring me round? The ghosts of my madness

Are you now (or have you ever been) in love? Are you now (or have you ever been) in love? You know just how I feel If you’ve never been in love It’s like falling back to earth Are you now (or have you ever been) in love? Are you now (or have you ever been) in love? You notice how it feels? If you’ve never been in love You’ve never left the earth If I’ve ever been in love I’m falling back to earth [“To love is to suffer” from Love & Death] Are you now (or have you ever been) in love? (Come falling back to earth) Are you now (or have you ever been) in love? (Come falling back to her earth)

Wake me up 05:20
All these homes are made of sand And the seas keep washing through Take your spin doctor’s hand All the lies he’s pushing you Why is such a passive world Breaking up? Another life, another plan, another place What you’ve seen of me will disappear without a trace The verité of my dreams Died in the streets and in your arms Lied in the face of facts Though we all come to harm How is such an honest world So afraid to tell the truth? Another life, another plan, another place What you’ve seen of me will disappear without a trace If we don’t want to know the truth All we have to do is stay awake Another life, another plan, another place What you’ve seen of me will disappear without a trace If I ever smelt the roses Or touched a nerve When I’m lying there My eyes are closed; my heart is opened to you Please, wake me up, it puts me to sleep Wake me up, it puts me to sleep Wake me up and put me to sleep If this world ain’t real Peel back the onion layers Reveal the seedy underworld That tries so hard to make us cry Why would a real world Destroy something so beautiful? Another life, another plan, another place What you’ve seen of me will disappear without a trace Wake me up, it puts me to sleep

about

The Quixotes returned in 2008—after a brief and abortive diversion writing and performing for two albums as Jiggery-Pokery—in a world of hurt and full-on misery with their sixth album, the appropriately (and tellingly) named "Do not resuscitate". An examination of clinical depression, the rejection of love, self-loathing, self-harm, government spin, the toxic nature of relationships and eventual descent into suicide.

about

The Quixotes London, UK

With infectious and highly melodic tunes, The Quixotes specialize in songs about abject misery. Straddling multiple genres including electronica, indie- rock, 80's pop and blues. The rather schizophrenically monikered Quixotes were in fact merely one Matt Black, a London- based singer- songwriter. ... more
